I am new to blogging, but find myself in a situation which I feel I need to express how I feel about modern day Islam and how this sentence itself is inexcusably incorrect.
Firstly, Islam is destined to become the religion of the world for all times and all peoples and can be directly imposed on a society throughout history, and the amazing part is that it would succeed.
Today the 04th of August 2011, we come to find Muslims and non-Muslims do not know what Islam is, who is right when it comes to decisions or answers about situation or questions respectively.
Is it the Sunnah of Muhammad (
We all are taught when we are young that we believe in the Oneness of Allah, we are brought up that Muhammed (May Allaah send prayers and salutations upon him) is the messenger of Allah, Allah revealed the Quran to him. There are Angels, they are made of Light etc... However as we grow and the world is not such a big place anymore you come across terms that do not mean much and you tend to ask questions.
The terms or names that I refer to are Sunni, Shi’a, Shaf’ie, Maaliki, Hanafi, Hanbali, Sufi, Salafi, etc… please see the picture below.
Something is happening to Islam, what is Islam that the prophet Muhammad ( May Allah send prayers and salutations upon him) taught to his followers, can we not have that Islam, there cannot be modern, old, pure, extreme, radical Islam, there is only one Islam, I am not Sunni Muslim, I am Muslim. I am not Shaf’ie Muslim, I am Muslim. Why cannot I not be Muslim, why are my father and mother scared when I tell them I am not Shaf’ie, because they do not know that there no problem in not being, taking someones opinion and then saying you are now a follower, why can you not just take their opinion and go on.
I am not an Imaam, I am not a Sheikh, I am not a scholar and I am have not memorised the holy Quran, although I strive to be a good and honest Muslim and someone that does what Allah has ordered me.
The actions, manners and behaviour of the Prophet make up the Sunnah, we are instructed to follow this to the T, however there is a group who are amongst us who claim to be of the Muslim Ummah, however they do horrid acts, that sicken the stomach and make you want to ask why, did Rasoolullah do these things?
The answer is obviously NO, he did not beat himself with knives like the Shi’a, he never said that a Madhab is required, he did not say that after you make Du’a to Allah that you must wipe your face, he did not perform Dhikr-e-Qulb like the Sufi’s . There is no proof he did these things, yet we do them. Why, because we cannot do what Islam tells us, it’s a very simple religion, there is no grey area, Islam is black and white and yet you can apply it to daily life in every way shape and form. So why do we still not stick to the rules.
These are my thoughts and feeling and by no way do I mean to insult and disregard and mean no offence to people of other faiths, I only state the universal truth and the universal lies.
Isha allah, let Allah grant us Paradise, and let us be of the righteous and let us be good Muslim’s. Let us not stray from the straight path and let us not do what is Haram for us.
As-Salāmu `Alaykum (السلام عليكم), often translated as Peace be upon you.
